Donald F. "Donnie" Taylor, 70, of Calamus, Iowa, formerly of Maquoketa. Iowa, died at 10:20 p.m. late Monday evening, October 14, 2024, at Unity Point-Trinity Medical Center, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Donald Franklin Taylor was born March 30, 1954, in Maquoketa to Donald Edward and Alice Donna (Baker) Taylor. He was a 1973 graduate of Maquoketa High School. Early in life, Donnie worked construction in. After several years in the construction trade, he went to work at Target in Rockford, Illinois, and was employed there for many years. On September 12, 2021, Donnie was united in marriage to Thomasine Neal in Bettendorf. She preceded him in death January 10, 2024.
Donnie loved all things music and much of his life revolved around music. He was into all types of music, but most especially classic rock, folk and country. One of his greatest accomplishments was his band, the Snowy River Band.
Surviving are his son, Donnie (Cindy Brasmer) Taylor of Rock Island, Illinois. and their son, Kyle; his daughter, Jenn Taylor of Oxford Junction, Iowa, and her children, Erin, Jacob, Kaeti and Warren; his great-granddaughter, Aurora; his siblings, Dave (Annette) Taylor of Swisher, Iowa, Darlene (Bruce) Strohbehn of Calamus and Darren Taylor of Calamus; nieces and nephews and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Schmidt of Baldwin, Iowa,
In addition to his wife, Thomasine, Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Donna and his sister, Denette Schmidt
The family will receive relatives and friends at St. Mark Episcopal Church Maquoketa from 9:00 until 10:45 a.m. Saturday, November 2, 2024. A service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Fr. Robert North presiding. Private burial will be held. Flowers and sympathy gifts may be delivered to the church.
